Tutorial – Nubs Gone Away!! (with Gundam Marker)

Two days ago, I posted my WIP for MG Hi-Nu Gundam, Part 1.
There I show you how I manage to deal with the nubs :D

so, today I want to show you all how I got this done.

For starter, I took one part away from its runner, still have the nubs.

First, I cut the excessive part with my cutter (or side-cutter).

Even with that, I still have the white mark after the cut problem, next I use sand papers.
I use two types: the 500 ones which I use first, then 1000 ones later.

After sanding, I rub the part with my finger, but the white part is still there.
So, I use a similar colour Gundam Marker to fix this.

Notice that I use Gundam Marker for Lining, Brush Type. I use this before to paint Exia’s shield and know that this type is not for painting (marking) >_<. Use the correct type for its functionality.

Even similar, the colour has difference, so I rub again with finger, brush again if the white part sticks, and violla… it’s gone.

Other parts which I use the same treatment. But I can’t fix the blue part because I don’t have blue colour >_<

Hope you could find my tutorial helpful. I'll post the rest WIP part 2 later with Unicorn WIP part 1 by my brother.

Until next time :D

  1. well I did the same but using snowman LOL nah I am to lazy to do that since I finished all my gundam as fast as possible >.>

  2. not try looking for gundam marker set it’s cost around 160.000(as long under 180.000 it’s normal) and got 6 basic color
or use another color replacement like snowman permanent ink for the whiteboard I mean the permanent one not for the whiteboard >.>

  3. Ah, the “hiding nub marks with marker” trick. :D

And yeah, the easiest to hide will be the black ones, as for the other colours like you ‘d said, need to have the right colour markers.

But then again, I notice you won’t get any marks (or very less of it) if you cut at certain pressure and angle. It happens sometimes with mine.

  4. @moemoekyun:
well, finish one and I’ll have to buy another :D
that’s why I don’t want to finish it fast.

a set… might think about that, but I’ll have to go to bookstore first ASAP >_<

    @bd77:
I’ve encountered the blue part yesterday, really need to find right colour.
maybe I’ll go to bookstore bringing some runner part with me :D

  5. anyway hongli not made gundam marker :D ??

    • nope :D
guess they think too many other brand made the replacement, like snowman.

  6. Nice tutorial, now I learn more things about gunpla ^^

    • I try to learn more and more, even at the first time I’ve never though that I will put these much effort for gunpla :D

    Oh, that’s a GN cutter! :D
your nub mark removal trick is nice bro! I’m sure after topcoat, it’ll blend with the original color even more.

    • GN-Cutter, LOL.
Tomorrow tokukatsu will demonstrate topcoat to me, if he had his topcoat delivered, don’t know the use of topcoat till now…
